P&H picked up this 2007 Mini Cooper S a couple weeks ago in need of a little love"THIS VEHICLE COMES WITH A FULL WARRANTY". Like many of the higher mileage R56 1.6 liter turbo engines, its dual overhead timing chain set had reached its limits of useful life. When we picked the car up, we immediately noticed on cold start the dreaded death rattle. Being Mini Cooper mechanical experts, we knew exactly what needed to be done. Off with its head! Actually just the valve cover. We quickly diagnosed a broken upper timing chain guide, a common problem with the N14 engine. We did what we have done close to 100 times. Remove and replace the timing chain set with a factory oem updated kit. We replaced. Timing chain, three timing chain guides and timing chain tensioner. We then pulled the oil pan and oil pump. The oil pump was take apart and inspected for wear. All clear. New front main seal and a new valve cover was installed. We typically would replace the water pump and thermostat housing but that had already been done at 117k miles. After all of this, we then went over the entire car and sent it down to Lemeks Performance for Inspection and Emissions stickers. The little Mini passed without issue. The car now runs great. The 1.6 liter turbo engine boosts up quickly, the transmission shifts firm and quick, with the paddle shifters on the steering wheel adding a little more excitement, to the 6 speed automatic transmission. So do not hesitate to call Gary at 215-820-7228 and set up a time to see and drive this fun little car. -Bluetooth -heated seats -rain sensing Wipers -Zenon headlights -real leather seats not vinyl -paddle shift steering wheel
